Inspiration can come from anywhere.

Inspiration Source: Friends reminding me to have an imagination.

We were just going to do a one-shot Dungeons and Dragons (DnD) campaign. Turns out there’s no such thing. Cordelia was created as a wood elf druid and I fell in love with this fantastical world. As a nod to her DnD origins, I used my hoard of dice to roll for various things throughout the story; plants, colors, animals. Devoted DnD players know, the dice rule so I stuck with whatever they gave me. Even if it was an opossum.

Inspiration Source: Music

Who doesn’t imagine their book being turned into a movie? These songs would be on the official soundtrack. From Cordelia’s feelings of not feeling anything to Pine’s knack for smooth talking followed by the hurt, heartbreak, reconciliation and embracing their new adventure.

To quote Hans Christian Anderson - “Where words fail, music speaks.”

Inspiration Source: The beauty around me.

One of the biggest non-writing writing activities is to look at the world and snag bits and pieces of things that inspire you. There are so many things that inspired this story, these are just some that I was able to capture with my camera.
